Ranged weapons allow for mid to long range combat.

In Horizon Zero Dawn[]

Sold by Merchants[]

Quest Rewards[]

Heavy Weapons[]

Heavy weapons are either dropped by human enemies upon death, or can be shot off of living machines and picked up by Aloy. However, their ammo cannot be crafted, and they cannot be put into the inventory or purchased at merchants.

The Frozen Wilds[]

In Horizon Forbidden West[]

Sold by Merchants[]

The system differs from Horizon Zero Dawn where ever weapon class has three "rarities" with each adding an additional ammo type (for example: the "shadow" (purple) Hunter Bow can fire Hunter Arrows, Fire Arrows and Hardpoint Arrows with the "carja" (blue) and "basic" (green) missing the ability to fire Hardpoint and Fire Arrows respectively). There are still rarities in Horizon Forbidden West, uncommon (green), rare (blue), very rare (purple), and legendary (orange), but they do no longer have corresponding ammo types. Rather, they represent their effectiveness, where rarer weapons will have higher respective stats.

There are multiple different classes of weapons in Horizon Forbidden West:

Quest Rewards[]

Heavy Weapons[]

Similar to Horizon Zero Dawn, heavy weapons are either dropped by human enemies upon death, or can be shot off machines and picked up by Aloy. Unlike in Horizon Zero Dawn, they are not destroyed when a machine is killed. They can also be found on weapon racks in rebel encampments. However, their ammo cannot be crafted, and they cannot be put into the inventory or purchased at merchants.
